Star Chamber

I had a little chuckle last night at the council meeting as Maurice Byrne was answering questions back and forth. I could see Sandy Cunningham wriggling around in his seat just itching to get his question in. Then the moment came. Long pause, it was like one of those 1950’s era McCarthyism star chamber moments. I was half expecting him to say “Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party?” But no he asked “Can we assume that you are now and in the future, the only person that is speaking for Pretty River Academy?” Maurice responded “Absolutely, I am on the schools board of governors and they have designated me as the spokesperson now in all matters relating to this proposal and all matters concerning the sports dome”.
Pretty unequivocal I would say. But no, that wasn’t good enough for this local version of a Spanish Inquisitor. Sandy pressed again “So you are now the only person who speaks for the school?”. Maurice replied with a puzzled look on his face “That’s correct yes”.

I guess Don Gallinger got under the skin of at least one member of council eh???
