VFAN 2014 TOP 10 VIEWERS COMMENTS

You’ve been listening to me yapping all year. Now it’s your turn. The following are my top 10 VFAN comments for 2014.

# 10
Gordon Sellen in response to “Change won this battle but has not won the war.”

Well no matter where you go there they are. I spoke to some locals in the days before the election and some voted for Cooper because they went to high school with her. That’s it. No idea of her accomplishments or her record at all. Many people are just not engaged enough to have an opinion worth listening to. That’s what were up against dude.

Bud Witzke in response to “(Not) The Order of Collingwood Award Nominations Requested”

I nominate all those ass klowns who voted for Sandy Cunningham. A close second is the Skidiot in the Audi Q7 parked in the Fire lane at Loblaws who is obviously too important to park in the obvious abundance of empty spots. During Thursdays storm I had 2 cars slide into the ditch by my place. …..BMW and Merecedes. I nominate all Skidiots who think life is like these German made commercials.

Cathy in response to “It’s a nice start but…………”

Coffee maker is broken, I’m out of smokes and the help hasn’t come to dig my big gas guzzling German car out of my driveway yet.

Triguy in response to “Change won this battle but has not won the war.”

My favourite story this post-election season was of a senior citizen (long-time Collingwood resident) who dutifully voted for Cooper because “she was such a nice lady at the grocery store all the years”. WHAT? Really? That is a qualification to run a multi-million dollar company? More unreal is no one takes that conversation to the next place.
Baffled Listener: “Oh really? What was her position at the grocery store all those years?”
Uninformed Voter: “Cashier”
Baffled Listener: “Just Cashier? She wasn’t promoted to head cashier or supervisor or manager after 20+ years at the store and because of her superior leadership skills, her vision, her involvement in the store community with other employees, etc.?”
Uniformed Voted: “No just a cashier, but she was always so nice!”

…just one of the 3,000 you speak of…and sadly I’m sure there is as they say “a lot more where that came from”

Bill in response to “Admiral Collingwood Place – The Timeline:”

Summer 2015 – David Suzuki does a Nature of Things special on the “Wonders of Urban Wilderness” prominently featuring The Admiral Collingwood site.

Summer 2016 – Rod and Tackle Magazine names the sites pond, one of the premier trout fishing locations in Ontario

Late Summer 2016 – Experts confirm that debris spotted in the pond is a Sobeys shopping cart, and not part of the undercarriage from missing flight Malaysia 370.

Steve Berman in response to “Cooper Nation”

I’ve been a Leaf fan since 1974. Disappointment and I have a long history 🙂

#4
Stu in response to “Budget Shell Game has Started”

Maybe it was the cost savings from the 11th line paving….lol….
On a good note then, my $4000 tax bill will not be going up.
Budgets are very unique things, one can do things in one year and or defer them to another year..it is a shell game whether it be from a corporate or government standpoint..happens every day….
Interesting development… The future is going to be an increasing amount of taxes…

On a side note I am personally not very happy about the Ontario minister of finance planning/wanting on increasing the cpp payments. WTF… Whatever happened to one planning for their own future…. F’n Liberals, have to be the parents of people….
We are taxed to death albeit, this not technically being a tax, but still money out of our pockets with them controlling it, and as we have seen they are NOT good at managing it.
Too many costly power generation cancelations, wind power deals, orange ambulance, etc etc etc…to be trusted!!!!
Stepping off soapbox… It is broken anyways…

Noel Bates in response to “It’s a nice start but………..”

Three years ago about 80 planners who gathered to listen to Dan Burden a urban planner from Oregon brought here by no-longer-in-the planning-department, Robert Voigt, were given an exercise : we split into about six workshops had a aerial photo of downtown C’wood and said go to it.
Alost unanimously all decided: block Hurontario at 2nd and third create a pedestrian mall demolish TD CIBC and the former Bingo hall and create a plaza — a l europe. Turn Pine and St Marie into counter one way streets. Put a proper bus terminal at the mall’s perimeter and add a banking tower for the displaced banks; and use the plaza for events like you suggested.
Unfortunately the politicians who attended in the morning elected to skip the workshop.
By the way, most people there Dec 26 were using the parking spots because they were going to the arena and the spots were free.

Chris in response to “Nobody tries to boss a senior citizen.”

“That’s not such a bad thing, Rick Lloyd is a good person and we have been lucky to have him in public service in this town. He was a way better Deputy Mayor than this Saunderson will be.”
I just vomited in my mouth… Saunderson is exactly what this town needs to help heal from, “Dick Llloyditis” – Definition: A nasty infection requiring something stronger than antibiotics to heal.

The comment below along with the Sandra Cooper picture were part of a caption competition. It actually made me do a full on tea spray the morning I read it.
